The time before graduation is stressful. Not only because you have to defend your final project or bachelor thesis, but also because you have to start thinking about what to wear on your graduation day. Of course, this mainly is the problem for girls, not to mention, it was mine as well. But the difference about me and my graduation outfit is that I have a different story about finding my graduation dress. I would rather say "making" it, not "finding" it. The truth is that I had it before I even knew that I'm going to wear it on this big day. In short- I just took my grandma's vintage dress and designed it to fit my body. This was not only about making a dress and sewing, but also about daring to wear a dress that is AT LEAST 40 YEARS OLD, knowing that there would be so many girls that would probably wear nice, girly and modern dresses. Once I spent one day with my mom trying to find a dress and realized that most of the dresses were quite ugly or just not in my taste, I told myself: "That's it..Even my grandma's dress is better. So I'm gonna make it my size and I'm gonna wear it on my graduation day". And so I did. It's nice to know that the only money I spent for my graduation outfit is for my shoes. And why not? If you're creative and able to make something yourself, plus- to dare wearing it- thumbs up for you!
Some pictures from that dress:
First, I had to rip seams and try to make it my size:
Then- make it fit on my waist and sew in:
Finally- I just had to find some waist-belt and wear it:
